Trynn and the Bagpipes

Junior Trynn Oliphant has been playing the bagpipes for three years now. He loves playing the bagpipes and has enjoyed being able to showcase his talents.

“A person down in Utah is the bagpipe band leader there. I was his student there for about a year and a half,” Oliphant said.

Trynn is originally from Utah. When he moved to Rexburg in the summer of 2019 he had to discontinue his lessons.

“I love how powerful it is. Sometimes when I stop playing, like when I finish a song and get all the air out it sounds eerily quiet. Even though it’s normal it sounds quiet, it just sounds creepy,

Being such a loud instrument, the bagpipes give a whole new meaning to the word quiet.

“It’s definitely funny when I’m telling people about the bagpipes, and I’m telling them about the bladder, and they start laughing.

“It’s really funny to show people what my bladder’s made of.”
