This last weekend was a big weekend for Madison High School. The Madison volleyball team won the state championship against the Skyline Grizzlies. This was a big achievement because the senior players have been reaching for this goal for four years.

“The last time Madison won state was my 8th Grade year so me and my group of friends watched them win state and then we got pulled up to varsity our freshmen year. So our goal that day was to win state and we worked for four years to finally achieve it,” Senior Maddilyn Wilcox said.

State tournaments can be super nerve racking and scary before but Senior Charli Cook went into it with confidence.

“Before I felt like we were all pretty confident just because we’ve done well throughout the season and our team chemistry is pretty good. I think I was mostly just really excited and was super pumped for state,” Cook said.

Although the volleyball season has come to end, players have made memories that they will remember for the rest of their lives.

“I think my favorite memory is growing up with the group of girls we have because we’ve all played with each other since 8th Grade. It’s super cool to see the mature women we are now and then to also achieve the goals we set when we were young together,” Wilcox said.
