Most people believe that mountain biking is more simple and cheaper than it really is. It is quite a physical challenge and a lot of hard work for every person there.

“There is a lot of light to very steep uphill and barely any downhill. Some are packed down and smooth but others are super dusty and you can’t see anything. The worst are the ones that are really bumpy,” Senior Spencer Brown said.

There are a few techniques to help climb better and to help the racers see exactly what they need to in order to race.

“Oh eyeshadow totally, when it comes to climbing a hill you have to put your body in the right spot to get the perfect center of gravity, so you can get the best climb,” Brown said.

It is more expensive than a lot of other sports that most people choose to compete in, whether it is recreational or in school.

he jerseys were about $150, race fees are around $300, drinks and such per race are about $30. Then there is the trip itself and food so it’s a lot,” Brown said.

Some don’t see any real thrill about biking up a steep hill against other people but Brown sees it differently.

“Winding through the downhill after the race or the little that is in the races is the best part. Bombing downhill and leaning into the turns at the fastest possible speed is just the best feeling ever,” Brown said.
