MHS Miss Madison happened Saturday, October 16 where eleven girls strived for the same thing. All eleven girls spent weeks preparing for the upcoming event. One of the contestants, Sophomore Kambria Bingham, didn’t like the early morning practices.

“My least favorite was how early the morning practices were since they were before zero hour,” Bingham said.

Miss Madison 2022 was Senior, Mikelle Dorman. Dorman had no idea she was about to be crowned the winner and was in disbelief.

“I was in shock, I didn’t walk on the stage thinking I’d come home as Miss Madison.” Dorman said, “I thought all the girls had a great chance of winning.”

Each girl had to prepare and practice a talent to perform. Many girls danced including Seniors Kate Mills, Senior Pyper Sponenburgh, and Junior Brynlee Mortensen. Many also played instruments, including Dorman who won the talent award for playing the piano blindfolded.

“The hardest part of the competition to prepare for was the talent since I was playing ‘Bumble Boogie’ blindfolded. I knew the song by heart so I decided to challenge myself by learning it blindfolded which took a couple weeks of dedicated practice,” Dorman said.

No matter the outcome, they all came out with experiences and friendships that they can take with them throughout their lives.

“The best part about the whole experience was definitely the friendships that I got out of it with all the other girls,” Bingham said.
