Switching Schools and Being Cool

Every first or fifth hour at the high school, there are a couple of classes that students from the Jr. High can attend. One of them is a coding class that Mrs. Miskin teaches.

”We do HTML and CSS code to design websites for people and practice,” Freshman Evelyn Miskin said.

Students who choose to take classes at Madison High School use transportation provided by the school district to get there.

“I ride the bus over from the Jr. High after fourth hour,” Miskin said.

The Jr. High school is across town from the High School. So typically, students arrive to their classes about ten minutes late.

“We are usually about ten minutes late on a regular weekday. On a Friday, we’re about thirty minutes late,” Miskin said.

Even though students arrive so late, they still find time to get assignments done.

“Normally we can get things done pretty fast,” Miskin said.

Miskin signed up for the class knowing that her mom was the teacher. She also enjoys coding, so it made sense for her to take this class.

“The teacher is actually my mom. I took her coding classes over at the Jr. High and they were really fun and I liked them a lot. I wanted to spend some more time with my mom and also learn how to make websites,” Miskin said.
