Passing the Time

Elli Thayne

Since being in quarantine I have been extremely bored. It seems like even though I do a lot during the day there is always a lot of extra free time. I’ve ended up doing some fun and maybe not the smartest things to pass the time.

On the very first day of quarantine I decided to cut and dye my hair blonde. I originally had long brown hair so this was a very drastic decision. My sister is a cosmetologist so I was able to easily do it at home. Thankfully I ended up liking it and I haven’t regretted my decision.

The next thing I decided to do was painting. I don’t paint often because I’m not very good at it and never have time to do it, so I thought why not try. I ended up really loving painting even though some of the pictures I painted didn’t end up very pretty.

The third thing I have been doing is working on planting my own garden. I just started, but I’ve been able to learn a lot through my mom and I’ve gotten to spend a lot of time outside.

Even though this quarantine seems unbearably long and hard I have been able to find some joy through it. It has given me an opportunity to learn skills and have experiences I may not have had otherwise.
