The Madison Bobcats took on the Skyline Grizzlies on December 29, in Madison’s second annual Throwback Game. The cats played in 70’s and 80’s style uniforms and encouraged the spectators to dress up as well. The Madison Bobcats defeated the Skyline Grizzlies 64-55. This win makes the Cats 10-0 so far this season.

The Grizzlies started the game scoring the first points. Madison tried to follow but Skyline’s defense was strong. By the end of the quarter, Skyline led 12-10.  The Bobcats seemed to have trouble finding their rhythm.

At the beginning of the second quarter, Madison junior Mark Williams drained a three-pointer to move the Bobcats to the lead. That lead didn’t last long with Skyline scoring two points immediately after. Madison scored nine more points in this quarter and Skyline scored six more. This brought the half time score to 22-20, Bobcats leading the game.

The third quarter was high scoring. Madison scored six points off of fast breaks before the first Skyline basket was made. The Cats have shown they can work. Madison’s Head coach Travis Schwab said, “We might not be the most talented, but we work.”

Madison scored 23 points during the quarter. Senior Spencer Hathaway scored six of the Madison points throughout the third quarter. Madison senior Kyle Jackson was foul when going for a layup and was injured. He didn’t play the rest of the game. The third quarter ended with the score to 45-32, Madison.

The fourth quarter was a great one to watch. The Bobcats and Grizzlies fought hard clear to the end. Skyline’s defense and intensity increased, so the Cats had to work for their points. With 20 seconds left in the game, the score was 61-53, Cats were leading. Skyline had a chance to gain some points through foul shots but, all were missed.

Madison got ahead by scoring two foul shot points. The score was 63-53 with seven seconds left. Grizzlies tried for another foul shot and this time scored both points. Junior Dawson Wills scored the final point of the games with two more free throws.

Hathway and Jaden Schwab both led the Cats in scoring with 12 points. Skyline played a tough game but just was able to make it happen. The Cats are a tough one to beat, as they have proven this season.
