With 2019 just around the corner, everyone is making their New Year’s resolutions. Resolutions can vary from doing homework more consistently to being a nicer person. Some have no rhyme or reason to them. Why do people set goals then?

“I feel like they want to better themselves, but they’re too lazy to, so starting in January is kind of a way of procrastinating,” Junior Melanie Larson says.

Some people don’t even set goals, claiming that if someone really wants to change, they wouldn’t wait for a new year to do so.

“I don’t think they’re very effective because we’ll set goals but sometimes we don’t accomplish them,” Senior Daisy Rosas said.

There are still a lot of people that do set resolutions, however, since the New Year brings what seems like a reason or opportunity to change.

“I think it’s a good opportunity to change right away and it’s a good time to get into the habit before going back to school,” Senior McKenna Roberts said.
