Setting the Fire Under Their Feet

 The lady Bobcats took on the Bonneville Bees on Thursday day and came up short with a final score of 55-29. The Bobcats, coached by head coach Traci Peterson, are currently ranked third in their conference. Currently, they have a totally of three wins, and eight loses.

    In the first quarter of the game, senior Kayeli Wasden started the Bobcats off strong with a three-pointer within the first minute of the game. After that, the Bobcats struggled to add more points to the scoreboard. Junior Sidney Parker added two more points in the first quarter. Offensively the Bobcats struggles in the first quarter. They had multiple turnovers that the Bees were able to score on. By the end of the first quarter the Bees were ahead 14-5.

    Once the second quarter came the Bobcats picked up their shooting game a little bit with a total of nine points in the second quarter bringing the score at half time to 24-14. Parker scored five of the nine points. Three of the five were free-throws. Two more points came from senior Savannah Dick, and the other two from junior Macie Gordon.

    The Bobcats came back from halftime with their head still held high ready to keep playing. In the third quarter the Bobcats were able to hold onto the ball better and avoid turnovers. They were able to score six points. Thee came from Dick and three came from junior Rachel Hicks. Both were able to hit perfect three-pointers. Defensively, in the third quarter they let Bees score 19 points. In the other quarter they were able to hold them to between 10-15. The score by the end of the third was 43-20.

    By the fourth quarter the Bobcats were still fighting hard. Parker, once again scored the most points in the quarter with a total of five out of nine. The other four points came from Wasden and Gordon shooting free-throws. Parker ended the game with a total of 12 points for the Bobcats. It even could have been more but she fouled out of the game with 1:49 left in the fourth quarter.

    The Bobcats continue to work hard and are always looking for things to improve. “We need to improve mostly just on finishing our shots,” Wasden said, “We are just a young team and we are still learning the basics.” They plan to continue to learn and grow. Each game they play, win or lose, they learn something new and it sets a fire under them that will continue to push them to be better.
