Bobcat Beat Hits Two Milestones in One Week
The Bobcat Beat and Broadcasting classes, of MHS, now have 100 videos and 1000 stories. From interviews to editing film it takes a lot of hard work to get these stories out to the public.
“A lot of effort goes into this class. A lot of stuff that we do doesn’t happen in class. Our reporters do a lot of work outside of school on their own time. We have also been starting to broadcast sports events, so I have been putting up a lot of effort outside of class. Barrus did a lot of the preparation for this class during the Summer so he has put a lot of work into this class as well,” Senior Jayson Wade said.
Bobcat Beat puts out two main video series one of which is Wednesdays with Webers.
“Doing Wednesdays With Webers has been really fun and exciting. Me and Parker are really into sports so we always wanted to do a show about Madison sports. It has been really fun to interact with the athletes in different sports around the school. It is just a fun show. Go Watch Wednesdays With Webers,” Senior Preston Weber said.
Another video series that Bobcat Beat produces is Newsflash 120 with Keegan Wolfe.
“Filming an episode of Newsflash 120 is a very extensive process. I monitor a bunch of different news outlets to get a lot of different opinions and a stay up to date of what’s happening during the week. Then I will compile the biggest stories of the week that I can put into the segment. Then I will throw in one that is a ridiculously weird story because those are always fun. Go watch Newsflash 120,” Senior Keegan Wolfe said.
Bobcat Beat and the Broadcast class is now up to 1000 stories and 100 videos. The 100th video was made by Bridger Stoddard.
“I wasn’t involved before but Bobcat Beat has really made me realize some things while writing the stories, and I think people can realize a few things too if they just go and watch the videos and read the stories. Being up to 1000 stories and 100 videos have been pretty cool. I mean 100 videos is pretty sweet,” Junior Bridger Stoddard said.
