The 2024 Supercross dirt bike race season is shaping up to be a close one, with the closest 250 class leaderboard point spread in history and some of the toughest competition yet.

“[The points] are very close right now in 250. [Max] Anstie is in first place with 52 points, and [Cameron] Macadoo and Brown both at 51 right behind him,” Junior Kyler Erikson said.

Between 1st and 10th place in the 250 East Coast class standings, there is only a 17 point difference. This is the lowest spread in 250 Supercross history.

“This year it has been a little different since a bunch of the top riders switched companies. The standings are about where you think they would be, except for in the 250 standings. I think that more people thought that Haiden Deegan would be at the top of the list,” Senior David Cooper said.

People saw this season playing out a lot differently, but it has proved to take a turn and throw in some surprises. The competition isn’t the only trouble the riders are having this season.

“It’s been quite muddy for a lot of the races with a lot of rain,” Erikson said.

Even with the muddy track conditions, there is still one rider that is above them all dominating his rookie season.

“This year’s standings with Jett [Lawrence] coming into the 450 class is a little weird to see that he just kind of comes in and dominates,” Cooper said.
