Many students enjoy going to dances to experience the live and vibrant culture that is Madison High School. Now that the sweethearts dance is over many people are left wondering when the next dance will happen. The most common tradition for dances is the spring fling but this year there will be no spring fling due to not enough participation.

“Spring fling was the least attended dance so they made the executive decision to get rid of it,” Senior Tanner Dummar said.

Due to the canceling of the spring fling dance this year many students felt like they had been robbed of a chance to go to a school dance.

“I am kinda sad because it takes away my chances of going on a date with somebody,” Junior Kate Heiner said.

Thanks to the voiced opinions Dummar heard he decided to help make a new dance that would be its own brand new thing this year.

“Most of the students were like ‘umm I don’t know most of the people like to have an excuse to go out on a date’, so we just were thinking of different ways to get it” Dummar said.

With lots of combined planning and cooperating with others in the student body of the school they came up with a new dance that they hope will become a tradition.

“Spring fling is not happening but we’re doing a different dance, not in its place but we’re doing a live jazz band dance,” Junior Katherine Pulsipher said, “The entire student council is kinda over it. It’s going to be March 29th at 7-9 pm and it’s going to be in the main gym, it’s going to be a chill dance and it’s going to be 1920’s theme.”
