A studio shot of Ari Roderiguez, Sarah Hill, Grace Galbraith, and Ms. Egbert posing as a teenage version of the Rock

On April 27th, Grace Galbraith gathered the first of Madison’s very own Dwayne the rock Johnson’s consisting of students, Ari Roderiguez, Sarah Hill, and Grace Galbraith. Even Ms. Egbert, the Photography teacher, decided to get in on the action.

“We all had turtlenecks and jeans and happened to have fanny packs too and it all added up to the outfit’ from the rock meme,” Galbraith said.

The idea initially began after Galbraith brought it up with Ms. Egbert. One text after another, the group assembled. There was no hesitation or conflict with any of the members either. They all agreed on meeting in the photo studio the next day in the same outfit, a black turtleneck, blue jeans, and a silver chain necklace all tied together with the iconic fanny pack.

“I just got a text from grace being like do you have a black turtleneck? And that’s how it happened,” Hill said.

Despite the willingness, the main struggle would come with figuring out how to capture the same feeling presented by Dwayne Johnson. This would be especially difficult in a group setting. The final shot was a pose with each member putting their arm on the other’s shoulder and giving the camera their best smirk or smolder.

“I think Dwayne Johnson is taller than I am, unfortunately. I can’t change the height, I guess I’ll just do the smirking face,” Roderiguez said.

Each member knew each other from band class and only served to hype each other up during the shoot. It became an extremely positive environment and Rodriguez was chosen as the most natural Rock model.

“There’s a sense of unity. Together we play music. Together we dress up as the rock,”

Galbraith said.

After the shoot, the group agreed to change their names for that day to Ari Rockreguez, Grace The Pebble Galbraith, and Sarah Mountain starting something that will hopefully continue for years to come.

“It’s officially Dwayne’s day,” Hill said.
