10 Year Plan
29 million dollars is a lot of money for anyone. Last year, MHS started the ground-breaking for a lot of things. Such as: a football stadium, soccer fields, a track, baseball fields, a new wrestling room, and followed by that, another gym.
With all these new things they are bringing to the high school, it took a long time to think about it and to even plan it.
“We have been planning this for a long time, longer than you would think about. For 10 years it’s been planned. We have always wanted to get a stadium over here, it took us about 2 to 3 years to draw everything up; we anticipated this project to take us about 16 months to finish,” Mr. Busby said.
A new football stadium is coming and there are a ton of improvements that they are making to it.
“This stadium right here will hold approximately 4,000 people on the home bleachers and for the away bleachers it will be able to hold around 1500 people. We have 4 bright self controlling lights that we can use for the games that can be focused on a specific area if needed, the stadium will have one speaker that will be used but it’s around a 2,000 pound speaker that can be heard from roughly a mile away,” Busby said. “It will be an all turf stadium, the concessions will be 20% bigger than the one at the Junior High.”
As those are the plans for the stadium, they are also building a new gym that will be bigger than the current auxiliary gym we have.
“Next year when the gym is done, we will have tickets booths [in the new gym] that you go to get your tickets for the game. There will be three windows that you can go to so that the lines don’t get long and we can get everyone in here as fast as we can. This gym is very similar to the main gym just without the top row seating. It will be able to hold roughly around 1,000 people in it compared to the main gyms 2,000. It will have its own concession stand in it,’’ Busby said.
As the new stadium is being built, it will be very big compared to other schools around the state and even a couple others.
“We will have the biggest [high school] stadium in Idaho and in Oregon. We will also have the biggest wrestling room in Idaho,’’ Busby said.
