The Oxford Dictionary defines the term Senioritis as a supposed affliction of students in their final year of high school or college, characterized by a decline in motivation or performance. Many seniors at Madison High seem to be suffering from this affliction.

Senior Brian Harris gave his input on what it feels like to suffer from Senioritis.

“Senioritis feels like, well it’s an entirely new feeling. It’s unreal how unmotivated I am. It’s like the longest session of unmotivation one can experience,” said Harris.

It seems that Harris isn’t the only one who is feeling the effects of being so close, yet so very far from graduation. Many others are suffering from this lack of motivation. Seniors are not doing homework, sleeping through their classes, not showing up on time, and simply just don’t care anymore.

Senior Andrew Nelson gave us insight about what goes through the mind of a senior.

“I just feel like I wanna just go into the ocean and turn into a whale so I don’t have to be in this [terrible] place,” said Nelson.

Is there anything that can be done to fight this constantly spreading pandemic?

Harris gives his advice to those struggling to hold on.

“Don’t even bother to try to stay focused, it won’t work” said Harris.

As Seniors try to get through these last few months, Juniors and Sophomores should begin preparing themselves for the horrors of Senioritis.
