Junior Gabriella Lauritzen is a varsity on the Madison Bobcadettes. Lauritzen’s been dancing since she was three years old and has been doing it for thirteen to fourteen years.

“I’ve been doing it since sixth grade and have been doing it ever since then,” Lauritizen said.

Lauritzen said it’s fun being on the Bobcadettes, it’s just like a family. It’s crazy different during Covid and is a lot different from the previous years. They’ve been getting ready for their competitions that are coming up.

“Practices are not different. It’s the exact same but the competitions are very different. You do it over Zoom which is a lot harder and there’s no audience,” Lauritizen said.

This year, the dancers have to do most of their competitions over Zoom but this Friday, they have an in person competition with the judges in Preston, Idaho.

“We have practice everyday after school. Normally for two hours and Saturdays can go from two to three hours,” Lauritzen said.

The last competition they didn’t win anything but did do good as a team. They haven’t won any trophies this year because of Covid. Last year they made it to State and won first place in a couple of the dances. Then Covid happened and they didn’t end up going to State.
