Haven’t Voted Yet? Here’s How
With only a few days left until the election. This is one of the most prevalent events this year, and you can be a part of it. If you’re going to be at least 18 on election day, you can still vote!
What if you aren’t registered to vote yet? No wo
rries, you can register to vote on election day and still vote in the election. Here’s how:
First, you’ll have to fill out the voter registration form (see picture above). There are some things you need to fill out before officially being registered.
Unfortunately, online registration is closed, but you can still register at polling places on election day, as explained on the Idaho Votes website.
The official website says, “To register on Election Day, bring a document with a valid address in your precinct and photo identification when you go to your polling place. Students of a post-secondary education institution may use student photo identification and a fee statement with an address in the precinct from their school to register on Election Day.”
Idaho will accept the following for identification:
Driver’s License
Passport
“Tribal photo identification”
Student photo identification
A written statement confirming your identity or “Personal Identification Affidavit”
Concealed weapon license
You’ll still have to fill out to form, especially if this is your first election.
If you’re worried about giving your personal information to the State, don’t worry too much.
The Idaho Votes website says, “Only specific parts of the state voter roll are public information. This includes the name, address, telephone number, and county of each voter. It is also important to know that Idaho law requires the Secretary of State’s office to provide this information in response to public records requests. While anyone can request this information, the law prohibits anyone from using this information for commercial purposes.”
Next, you may want to find out where to vote, since right now you can’t request an absentee ballot anymore. Luckily, Idaho has made a website to help you find where you can vote; it’s https://elections.sos.idaho.
Keep in mind that the website says, “Polling locations are not finalized for November. Please check again just prior to Election Day.”
So worst case scenario, you read this after the election has passed. Well, in that case, it’s not as bad as you think.
Once you’re registered to vote, you can vote in any election, not just the presidential election. You would only have to register again if you need to, if you moved or changed your name, for example.
School will not be held on election day, so you don’t have to worry about that.
The 2020 presidential election is one of the most important events of this year, and now you too know how to participate. Voting ensures that your voice is heard on the government stage. If you haven’t registered, go to your polling place on election day and register there, and then cast your ballot.
