Last Saturday, the Upper-Valley Composite Mountain Biking team competed at the Bogus Basin ski resort in Boise. This was the team’s state championship and also the last race of the season. Several MHS students pushed their limits to get one last good race out of the season.

“It’s fun, you get to get outside and do something you like doing,” Junior Daniel Ellsworth said.

The race course this year was both physically and mentally difficult. The trails featured steep uphill climbs and technical, bumpy, downhill descents. Due to these obstacles, it was difficult for some to stay at the front of the pack.

I think it was hard for a lot of people. It was good though and people had fun, it was just mentally challenging,” Junior Ketti Christensen said.

Many riders will be awaiting next years season over this winter. Friends and adrenaline rushes can be hard to go without during the cold, long winter.

“I always get depressed over the winter because I like the social aspect of it. I like meeting new people and racing with lots of people and I love my team,” Christensen said.
