Lady Bobcats Struggle on Senior Night

The Bobcats came out strong on the first possession on Senior Night. Madison’s post Macie Gordon got the tip and hit it to Savanah Dick. Then Madison Head Coach Traci Peterson called “motion” to try to open a shot open shot. The was passed to Dick, and she nailed it. The Trojans came back, got it into #44 Mateya Mobley for an easy two points.

The Cats put up a good fight, but couldn’t pull through, ending the game 44-27.

Rigby decided to sub out at three minutes and forty seconds into the first quarter. Rigby’s Summer Dabell came in and hit a corner three to start a Rigby run. Then she came and hit one from the top of the three-point line, and again from the right.

Dick led the first quarter for Madison with eight points and Dabell led the Trojans with nine points. To end the first quarter, Sidney Parker for The Cats hit a layup with ten seconds making it 10-13.

At the start of the second quarter, Dick came out with a steal and led to a fastbreak, but a missed layup. The Bobcats had a very hard time scoring in the second quarter. The Trojans did not have any struggle. Ruby Murdoch for Rigby came off the bench and added a five-point contribution to their 17-4 second quarter run.

Dick said,” We just could not get anything going for us during the second quarter. We had way to many turnovers and did not finish our layups. We were just not in the rhythm that we had in the first quarter.”

All of the Cats points came from free throws. The score headed into halftime was 17-30.

Rigby Head Coach Troy Shippen said, “Our bench played very well for us. They kept our starters rested for us when they need to go in.”

At the start of the third quarter, Gordon quickly got fouled and headed to the line to make one out of the two free throws. Next possession for the Bobcats, Maddie Jensen threw the ball out and Dabell came down and quickly hit a three-pointer. Peterson quickly called a timeout.

Madison freshman Whitney Wasden, sister to senior Kaylie Wasden subbed in with sophomore Blair Gordon, sister to Junior Macie Gordon. They tried to get things going for the Cats but nothing came from them.

The Bobcats were held to only scored free throws for 15 minutes till Rachel Hicks drove down to the key to make a layup. The end of the third was 39-20.

The fourth quarter started with more intensity from Madison. They got to the line 6 times during that quarter and went 66% from the line.

Mobley had 2 points to start the fourth for the Trojans. It was her first points since the first making her total 6 point for the game. Parker kept the game going with a pull up three and getting to the line and making both of her free throws making her total 9 points for the game and 5 for the quarter. The Cats played a great fourth quarter, holding Rigby to only 5 points.
