With the new Gillette commercial that aired in January 2019, there has been a lot of controversy surrounding the topic of “Toxic Masculinity”.

When asked about the “boys will be boys” saying, Senior Alydia Grover said, “I think that’s trash. Everyone should be treated equally and there should be no levels that people put each other on. Everyone should treat each other the way everyone wants to be treated, with kindness.”

“It’s a natural thing to be a little ‘rougher’ as boys, but I like how they changed that and tied their slogan in and talked about ‘The Best For Men’ and making men better,” Senior Grant Waldron said.

When commercials put out new content, there are always people who are not going to agree with it and they will stop supporting the company.

“I feel like that’s kind of dumb because the whole point of the commercial was to encourage men to be better and to stand up for other people. Watching that video made me want to go buy another Gillette razor,” Waldron said.
