Jessica Appell and Luke Cloward smile with excitement as they get ready to head to prom on May 5, 2018.

On May 5th 2018, MHS held their annual prom. A few of the girls who attended prom describe what their experience was like.

“Prom was a blast! We had a mini water fight with water balloons and then we drew on the Smith Park pavilion with chalk and ended up watching a cheesy romantic movie for our day date,” Senior Kaylee Kauer said.

For the most part girls had fun at the dance even though there were some things they didn’t quite like.

“The dance itself was OK. The DJ didn’t play the best kind of music but it was still fun. The theme was alright because the dance was held on Cinco De Mayo, but I think they could’ve decorated a little more better to fit the theme,” Sophomore Jessica Appell said.

For some students at MHS, the day date was more favorable than the dance because they  were able to spend the day with their friends.

“Prom was really fun! I really liked the day date. Honestly, it was my favorite part,” Junior Morgan Galbraith said.

A majority didn’t really like the DJ.

Hunter Lewis and Kenzie Parker went to prom together.

“The dance was a ton of fun but the DJ was trash the beat was exactly the same for every song probably because they had a live drummer. But it seemed like it was so loud I couldn’t even talk to my date but it was still fun,” Kauer said.

Some who attend prom in a group ended up having a lot of fun.

“Prom was a lot of fun! For our day date we did tandem biking and a little bit of geocaching.”

My favorite part of the whole thing was probably appetizers at Calvin’s house when the whole group got together again. I was in a group of four couples,” Appell said.

Simply enjoying their friends company was the best part for others.

“My favorite part was definitely just hanging out together and having fun with friends,” Kauer said.
