Social media is a key aspect of many MHS students’ lives. However, despite the countless hours that most students spend browsing posts, some students believe social media isn’t so great after all.

“I use Instagram. It’s great,” Sophomore Ethan Smith said.

Ethan says that social media is a good tool to connect with other people but that the ‘depression and addiction’ that social media brings can sometimes be dangerous.

“I use Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook. Instagram is the best because of the memes,” Junior Olivia Smith said.

Olivia said that she thinks it’s clear that social media is difficult for adults and teachers, and that they definitely need to work on their instagram game a little bit.

“I post several times a day on my spam account but only about once a month on my normal account,” Olivia also said.

Senior Calvin Fay said that social media is ‘the meat’ of high school.

“I use mostly everything but I’ve deleted most social media platforms off my phone except instagram because I need to get a hold of my life,” Fay said.

Fay said that while social media is a big distraction, it’s good for organizing large group events.

“Memes are both the best and the worst thing,” Fay said.
