The Madison Bobcats (7-2) beat the Blackfoot Broncos (1-5) 68-49 Friday night December 22 on Madison’s home court. The Bobcats had to travel down to Utah the day before to take on the Skyview Bobcats, which could have been a factor on their performance against the Broncos.

The Bobcats had a slow start in the first half of the game, and there was a lot of back and forth between both teams. When a Bronco would score a three-pointer, the Bobcats would answer back. Jordan Porter was asked what his thoughts were during the first half of the game.

Porter said, “ We just had to keep going and getting the 50/50 balls.”

The student section for Madison wasn’t as loud as they normally are, which could have also been a factor on the slow start. Porter was asked how the student section effects the team’s performance.

Porter said, “When they cheer really loud, it gives us a ton of energy and when we play with that energy it helps us out a ton.”  The momentum of the game swung when Blackfoot received a technical foul and a personal foul giving four changes at the charity strike. Brigham Williams made all four at the charity stripe. The Bobcats lead 31-26 at the half. Porter was asked what kind of advice was given to the team during halftime.

Porter said, “Coach said that we needed to just keep grinding and to get the 50/50’s.” The second half of the game the Bobcats were more eager to win. They came up more aggressive than the first half.

In the first half the Cats played a lot of man to man defense which slowed down the Broncos offense while in the second half they played zone defense prevented Broncos from getting mid range jump shots which helped the Bobcats beat the Broncos 68-49.
