Seeing the Other Side of the Camera
By Hannah Backstein and Sydney Thueson
Have you ever been sitting in a boring class and wondered if another class is doing something cool. We have all asked this question and it’s not hard to find a class that is doing something, just go peek into the photography room.
“Photography in general is a three year course so you take photography 1 for a trimester and you take photography 2 and 3 for a whole year. By the time the students graduate they should have a digital portfolio and printed portfolio and then skills to market themselves in the real world so they can go out and hopefully have a business,” Mrs. Walters said.
When we poked our heads in Mrs. Walters room and asked her what her favorite part of teaching photography is watching her students succeed.
“When they get it and that light goes off in their head,” Mrs. Walters said.
The students taking photography have been doing some projects that not only teach them about how to take the photos, but how to find parts of themselves.
“We worked on our vision, and what we like taking pictures of, and it’s really cool to find yourself,” Junior Lizzy Woodruff said.
