Earlier this football season, Junior quarterback Micah Dougherty suffered a serious injury that put him on the sidelines. While he works towards recovery, he has had to adjust to supporting and helping his team from the sidelines.

“I broke my pelvis, my hamstring tore off a piece of my pelvis, and I got surgery that just put that back together, basically,” Dougherty said.

Dougherty has been recovering from surgery and hopes to be fully recovered around basketball season.

“Hopefully by basketball season I will be able to play and be recovered,” Dugoherty said.

His recovery has gone much better than doctors expected. Dougherty was originally expected to take about four weeks before he could walk again on his own, but he was miraculously able to walk after only two weeks.

“It was supposed to be four weeks, but I’m just such an animal, so it’s only two weeks,” Dougherty said.

While his physical recovery has gone well, the hardest part for Dougherty has been being off the field and not being able to play with his teammates.

“Not being able to play football is probably the hardest part,” Dougherty said.

Even though Dougherty cannot play, he still devotes his time and efforts to contribute to the team by supporting his teammates and helping out whenever he can.

“I just try to help Junior Jette Walker out as much as I can. Moral support, pretty much,” Dougherty said.
