Bracket Breakers
The Madison Bobcats beat Eagle Mustangs 48-45 in the first round of state playoffs. The whole game went back and forth but Madison led for most of the game.
“We got big stops when we needed to, and I was just glad we were up when the time ran out, I believe there were 8 lead changes in that game,” coach Shayne Humphrys said.
Madison led at the end of all quarters today and were barely out scored in the 2nd and 4th quarter. Near the end of the game with about 18 seconds, left Berrett Wilson made a clutch two point shot to put Madison up by three. “Do I go for a dunk or not so I just decided to hit the layup. It was like here’s a free 2 points, good pass by Chase and that’s about it,” Wilson said.
Eagle then scored 2 points and then fouled Nash Humpherys where he hit both of his free throws to go up by three again.
Eagle then had a chance to tie the game up but ended up airballing a three to end the game.
With this huge win the Madison Bobcats will end up playing Lake City who beat Highland 62-25. When Coach Humpherys was asked about what he thought about playing Lake City he was ready to play.
“That’s exactly who we want to play, I feel great about it,” Humphrys said.
Berrett Wilson also is looking forward to playing Lake City.
“It’s a fun matchup. Coach wants to play them and he is going to have a great game plan to shut down their guys and to get us going,” Wilson said.
The Madison Bobcats have ruined two different teams undefeated seasons and they plan on ruining a third this season
