Making your dreams come true can take a lot of perseverance, time, and effort. By taking difficult classes whether it’s traveling away from home, or keeping up with latest fashion trends you can take those first steps in ensuring your journey towards your goals. “I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream” (Martin Luther King Jr).
Alexis Navarrete is a junior whose dream is to become a stylist one day for famous people. Navarrete pursues her dream by keeping “up with a lot of trends” and seeing what’s popular. She is always looking into colleges that offer classes in that field. She has always really liked fashion.
“I think it’s a cool way like everyone has their own style so you can express yourself” said Navarrete. She has had this dream forever, ever since she was a little “putting outfits together”. She stays “inspired by other celebrities and what is cool in fashion.”
Navarrete stays encouraged in pursuing her dream by looking for opportunities she could have going to a fashion school. With her dream, she has some obstacles she will have to overcome.
“I definitely would have to overcome like moving, because there’s not very many fashion schools close by. Moving far from home is hard and it’s very different from what like the norm like not a lot of people want to do that,” Navarrete said.
Junior Hannah Rowe’s dream is to follow in her mom’s footsteps and work as a nurse, or in the medical field. Rowe has always had a passion for the medical field. Rowe spends a lot of time keeping her grades up and really focusing on what is being taught. The classes Rowe is having to take are more challenging but they are getting her closer and closer to her dream.
“Ever since I was a little girl I always thought anything health related was interesting.” Said Rowe. Her mom has inspired her dream, since she works in the medical field as well. “By pursuing this dream I am taking the right classes like Human Biology, and the CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) classes. I want to be able to help those around me live a normal healthy life in the future,” Rowe said.
Going to the moon and working at NASA is a dream for a sophomore Austin Child. Child has had this dream ever since he was 4 years old. At night, Child and his brother would sleep outside on the tramp and look at the stars and moon.
“I can accomplish this dream by working hard and getting good grades in high school. The moon was always really cool,” Child said.
