Just a Girl and Her Horse

Earning a horse’s trust takes patience, but for Kaybree Luthy, it is also a chance to learn, improve her skills, and gain experience through her FFA SAE (Supervised Agricultural Experience).
“My SAE is horse training. I work with horses to help train them and improve my skills with handling and working with them,” Luthy said.
Luthy has always had an interest in horses and learning about them. When she got a chance to work with horses, she decided to turn that interest into her project.
“I’ve always liked horses, and I wanted to learn more about training them. I had the opportunity to start working with horses and decided to make it my SAE so I could get more experience and improve my skills,” Luthy said.
Horses can come with challenges, especially when trying to build trust. Luthy said each horse has their own personality.
“[I am] getting the horses to trust me and understand what I’m asking them to do. Every horse is different, so sometimes you have to be patient and try different ways of training them”, Luthy said.
