German Exchange Student and Star Track Runner?

An arial view of the Madison High track facility.
Leo Schott is preparing to compete in his first year of high school track and field. A foreign exchange student from Germany, Leo has been training for the past few weeks to join the team. Although this is his first year in the sport, his speed and athletic background give him a strong advantage.
Having played high school soccer with Leo, I can say that he is a very fast and hardworking athlete. Leo believes his years of playing soccer have prepared him well, saying, “I feel like all the years I have played soccer have prepared me so it doesn’t feel like I’m very behind everybody else.”
Leo is also known for his sportsmanship and respect toward teammates, opponents, and coaches. He shared his excitement about trying track for the first time, adding, “I am so very excited to do track. We don’t have it in Germany, so I can’t wait to try this new experience and see where it takes me.” I believe Leo will be successful and that this season will be one to remember.
