Fall Fits: Students Share Their Cold Weather Style Picks

As temperatures start to drop, students across the school are swapping out shorts and tees for jeans, hoodies, and a little seasonal flair. For some, it’s all about comfort; for others, it’s a fashion moment.“I like my jorts because they’re nice and short,” said Senior Hyrum Petersen. “They don’t get too hot and they’re very flowy. But when it starts getting cold, I switch into pants, or jorts with a hoodie. My body stays warm and my legs are comfy.”
Petersen says he dresses for comfort on the bottom and for looks on top. He’s most excited for sweaters and camo pants this season.
“I have this leather jacket that I always wear over a button-up with some jeans–usually my $50 JNCOs I got off Depop– and cowboy boots,” said Senior Linus Abegglen. “I’m super hyped for when everybody starts wearing scarves and trench coats again. And I’m praying skinny jeans come back. Like, spray-on jeans, basically.”
While he admits he sometimes goes for comfort, Abegglen typically dresses for the looks, because he’s “goated, twin.”“I like a li’l chill sweater and maybe some jeans,” said Senior Camden O’Shaugnessy. “I just got this green Christmas sweater that’s really cute.”
O’Shaugnessy says he dresses “mostly for comfort, just a little performative though,” and says he prefers winter outfits because, “you can snuggle up in your nice warm clothes.”Whether it’s jorts and hoodies, cowboy boots and leather jackets, or a colorful holiday sweater, one thing’s clear. Everyone’s finding their own way to stay stylish as the weather cools down.
