Where are the band banners?

One of the most successful programs in the school goes almost unnoticed by most of the students every year. The marching band has another season coming up this fall.

We kind of just show up, but no one really knows that we’re going,”

Senior and Drum Major Abigail Moore

said, “ I think we’re a pretty big part of this school,”

Every home game the marching band plays pep band tunes during the game. Every weekend during the fall they have competitions, and yet they’re hardly ever noticed by the students.

“We have competitions, we win some, we lose some, but they don’t recognize any of that either,” Moore Said.

Unlike much of the school the administration is very supportive of the band going as far as to bring doughnuts and personally thank the band, but the majority of the students barely see them.

“I honestly don’t think we’re very represented at all,” Moore said.

An example of the lack of representation is the posters. Posters of the football, soccer, and golf team’s seniors, even the cheerleading team get them, but not the band.

“I would love to have my poster up there,” Moore said. “I am a little biased, but I think it would be so cool to put our posters on the wall, just to acknowledge us.”

Despite representing the school very well even winning and placing very high at most competitions there are still no posters for the band.

“I don’t think the whole school knows how good we actually are in the band category, because we’re the biggest band in our area, but no one really knows that,” Moore said.

Moore thinks poster could help draw attention to the band but she wishes the students knew more about the band

“We’re not really recognized at our own school, it’s kind of sad. We only have one trimester, but that’s, like, our big season,” Moore said.
