Bobcats face off against the Titans in Boys Basketball Showdown
The Madison Bobcats played against the Thunder Ridge Titans on January 24th in a conference
matchup. The Bobcats came into this game with a record of 14-1 and the Titans being 8-8. This help led
Madison fans to believe this game would be an easy win for the Bobcats, but it ended up being a tough
game and the bobcats being just able to pull it out in the end with a scoreboard reading 65-57.
Despite several Thunder Ridge players putting up great performances and almost going shot for shot
with the Bobcat offense, they couldn’t find a stop for the offensive dominance of the Bobcats. This
dominance was led by Madison’s Nash Humphreys, who scored 32 points and went 9-11 on his free
throws.
This game was close the whole game. Within the first 4 possessions both teams were going down the
court and finding the bottom of the net. Madison would go score on their end and the Titans would match
them with points of their own.
With the buzzer ringing and the teams going into the locker rooms for half time, the Bobcats were up 37-
31. The Bobcats had been leading most of the game with the Titans close on their heels but it seemed
like they couldn’t take the lead from the Bobcats.
Coming out of halftime, the Bobcats seemed like they were going to hold on to their lead, mostly thanks
to their shooting percentage of about 65 percent in the first half.
The Bobcats continued their momentum from the first half into the third quarter, holding on to their 5
point lead and still shooting about 65 percent as a team from the floor.
Entering the 4th quarter was when the Bobcats seemed to slow down and the Titans started to close in.
The Bobcats started missing shots and seemed to have difficulty stopping Thunder ridge from scoring.
But the Bobcats were able to tough it out and finish the game on top even through a rough shooting
quarter, going only 50 percent from the floor. In the end, the Titans couldn’t seem to break the Bobcats’
hold over the lead and lost in regulation.
