Best Buddies
The special needs class at our school is one of the most positive and uplifting environments on campus. The students in this class are able to participate in many of the same activities as those not in the class.
“We do academics in the morning, the students go to Seminary, then they can go visit different classes like PE and ceramics. After that, we have Vocational Prep Classes where we do life skills and career readiness-type activities. Lastly we have our adaptive PE class,” Ms. McIntyre said.
Ms. McIntyre, known as Miss Addy to her students, is the Extended Resources teacher who monitors and helps students when they’re having a rough day.
“My favorite thing to do every day is spending time with the students. I know it’s cliche but it’s true! They make every day better, so just being able to hang out with them is awesome,” McIntyre said.
Along with McIntyre having fun each day, the students also love coming to school each day.
When interviewed, Senior Sage Hall and Junior Bailey Parker said their favorite thing to do each day is hang out with friends.
This class has some exciting things coming up in their agenda, too.
“We are excited for our “Best Buddies Prom” coming up in April. We are also having a fundraiser next week at the boys’ basketball game. They will be playing a game of lightning and the winner gets to pie whichever principal gets the most raffle tickets,” McIntyre said.
