Last weekend, the MHS cheerleading team concluded their season by taking second place in the 5A division at State. Several hours were spent perfecting their routines, formations, and stunts but that alone is not enough for any team to place at state. The Madison cheerleaders know that you must have teamwork to go above and beyond.

“From cheer I have learned how to become part of a team because it really is a team sport, there’s really not much you can do for yourself,” Senior Alexa Johnson said.

Working together as a team has helped the cheerleaders to become district champs and to eventually take second place at State.

“We would have team talks and instead of doing it for ourselves we did it for each other so that we were able to go farther,” Johnson said.

Senior Kenley Olsen is one of many seniors who will miss the close relationships that have developed through cheerleading.

“I am going to miss all my friends from cheerleading because we are all just a big family,” Olsen said.
