More Than Just Drumsticks
It’s crazy to think of what the kid who was always made fun of or was one of ‘those kids’ can do when someone believes in them. Always known as the ‘tapper’ or ‘that kid’, Clint Pulver has grown up to be a world famous drummer.
“I was the kid in school who always had a hard time sitting still. One day I had a teacher come to me and say, ‘I don’t think you’re a problem, I think you’re a drummer,’” Pulver said.
After that life changing experience, Pulver has been playing the drums for 23 years now.
“I’ve been on American Gots Talent and played with some really cool artists. As well as my whole college education was paid for through music. I even coached the Utah Jazz NBA drumline,” Pulver said.
Sporting jeans, a plaid shirt, and hightop Vans, Pulver talked to students in a packed gym encouraging them to stop seeing the negative when they walk down the halls, but instead choosing to see the positive.
“I just wanted to make a difference. I wanted to make something that invited people together that’s energizing and exciting,” Pulver said.
It took one time on stage (and a $500 paycheck) for Pulver to realize he could help others by becoming a motivational speaker.
“I spoke in church a long time ago and one of the members owns a leadership consultant company and was like, ‘I want you to come and speak to these highschool kids,’” Pulver said.
Pulver absolutely loved speaking and kept getting asked by other schools to come and talk to the students. Pulver decided that this is something he wanted to keep doing. Pulver left the students with a lot to think about on their first day back to school.
“Live your dreams, life is super short and you have the chance in highschool to design what to do and what you want to do here,” Pulver said.
