Catapulting Into The New School Year
Incorporating their knowledge from past lessons, Mr. Dummar’s math class made balloon catapults to test different formulas.
“We are trying to see what formula and build works the best in the class,” Senior Emmaleigh Finch said.
This activity helps the students use what they have learned and enables them to do something hands on during the hour.
“This class is all about real life. We can actually take what we learn at our desks and incorporate them into real life situations.”
A lot of different factors go into an activities like this. Senior Joshua Tonks explains some of the measurements the students have to take.
“ We take note of the angle we launch it at, the distance traveled, and the time the balloon is in the air,” Tonks said.
