Fighting Fires at MHS
This trimester, MHS introduced a new program called Wildland Training, which teaches the students how to deal with fires and other injury related emergencies.
“There is a lot of emergency training so if someone gets hurt we learn how to help them. Like, if they break a leg,” Junior River Hansen said.
This program is a possible introduction to a lot of the student’s future careers.
“It looks very good on resumes and it’s useful to get jobs and if you want to go further into firefighting it’s the first step,” Senior Natalie Park said.
The money is a major factor to some in the program because you can make a lot in a short period of time. For the students enrolled in the class, it could lead to a great summer job.
“Thirty grand in six weeks sounds pretty nice to me,” Senior Matt Schiff said.
