Bobcats Fall Short to The Tigers

The Madison Bobcats came five points short of a victory Friday night as they played home against the Idaho Falls Tigers, the final score 63-58.

The game started off with both teams playing with lots of energy. The first points of the game went to Madison’s Spencer Hathaway, as he made a free throw. Both teams played tough defense which led to a 14-10 lead for IF at the end of the first quarter.

Madison turned the lead back over to them at halftime with a score of 25-19. Madison Head Coach, Travis Schwab said, “I like how we just keep getting after it, we never stop hustling.” When the 3rd quarter started both teams were showing the same, if not more, intense than the first half.

Madison point guard Jaden Schwab ended up leaving the game just a few minutes into the 3rd after injuring his leg. He would later return and keep playing with his team. The Tigers ended up with a 39-34 lead at the end of the 3rd.

The fourth quarter was definitely one to remember. Not only was it competitive, but Hathaway sunk a half court buzzer beater to send the game into overtime. The crowd went wild and the energy going into overtime was high.

Free throws from Tiger point guard Kalvin Bowen were what won the game for the Tigers. The Bobcats weren’t able to pull through, but it was a close game from start to finish.

“There’s a lot to work on, we had several missed rebounds and a total of 17 turnovers” Schwab. Spencer Hathaway ended the night as the top scorer of the game at 28 points. The Bobcats hold a record of 10-2 and the Tigers 6-4.
