Update on Construction in District #321
Construction at MHS has been a conversation topic for quite a while now. Crews are finally getting ready to begin. Vice Principal Jordan Busby said that the Burton and Kennedy Elementary additions will begin on March 29th and other schools will follow soon after that. The community played a big role in making the construction possible.
“The community’s reaction to the construction was overwhelming. And part of the reason that it was so supported was because everybody was getting something out of the bond. Lots of people were being benefited,” Mr. Busby said.
At MHS, the parking lots and exits can be an issue a lot of the time. The new construction will have new parking lots and exits added to help it be easier to leave school and arrive.
“Some of it hasn’t been finalized yet but there will be additional exits and parking lots. There will be a West parking lot now, as well as a North parking lot by the stadium,” Mr. Busby said.
One of the biggest concerns and questions about the construction projects is when it will all be completed.
“Most of the construction projects take 13 months, but some construction projects take longer. Here at the high school there will be ten classrooms added, a new gym, the event center, and the stadium. So there’s a whole lot that’s going to be taking place all at one time. And we hope those ground breakings will be taking place in about July,” Mr. Busby said.
