Tests to Take
Wednesday, Oct. 11 is not a normal day at MHS. Each grade will be doing something out of the ordinary to help students prepare for their futures.
“The PSAT we have you take during your sophomore year, because it is practice so it gives you guys an idea of how well you’ll do on the SAT and also for the national merit scholarship qualifying test,” Mrs. Hunt said.
Mrs. Hunt said that the PSAT can help students know how they might do in advanced courses and help direct them throughout high school.
“It opens up the colleges and universities to look at you as a potential student so it’s actually a pretty good test to take when you’re a sophomore,” Mrs. Hunt said.
“It (the PSAT) wasn’t that difficult, it was better than I expected but it was long,” Junior Joseph Sanns said.
The Juniors will be taking the ASVAB test at the same time the Sophomores take their tests.
“The ASVAB is a test given by the united states military and it’s an entrance processing test that they do to see if you qualify to be in the armed forces,” Mrs. Hunt said.
Mrs. Hunt said that taking the ASVAB test can help guide students as they choose a career.
“But it also is a good indicator for how you are going to do in any kind of civilian job whether you go into the military or not,” Mrs. Hunt said.
“They are both really good tests to take and show a lot of information for you guys to look at how you’ll do in the future,” Mrs. Hunt said.
Both tests require some preparation for students to do their best.
“Make sure you study and stuff and pay attention in class. Take good notes so you can do well and also sleep and eat well before,” Sanns said.
The Seniors attend an assembly to help prepare them for graduation.
“Seniors will discuss caps, gowns and class rings with the Josten’s representative,” Senior Peter Bressler said.
Students should have a much better idea about what it will be like to graduate.
“After he is done we will take our Senior photo for the yearbook, the 18 picture and this year we are going to do something a little different so I’m excited to see how that turns out,” Mrs. Miller said.
