Bobcats Play in Annual Buck Bowl
Two high school football teams, each coached by a Buck brother, compete in the traditional Buck Bowl where the Madison Bobcats will venture down to the Broncos stadium in Blackfoot on Friday.
“He (Coach Buck) is pretty good at teaching life lessons, he’s smart about the game, and teaches you to work hard,” Senior Spencer Evans said.
The players are excited to compete and use what Coach Buck has taught them in football and in other parts of their lives.
“When there is a rivalry going on it makes everyone play better,” Senior Coleman Cordero said
The Buck Bowl has been a traditional football game between the Madison Bobcats and the Blackfoot Broncos for many years and it looks like it won’t be ending anytime soon.
“The Madison Bobcats are never scared of anything,” Junior Brigham Castillow said.
Though there is a strong drive to win, the Buck brothers do not let the competition come between them.
“We have never trash talked, I don’t think that existed when we were young,” Coach Mitchell Buck said.
Coach Buck is expecting a lot from his team this weekend, but does not enjoy beating his own brother.
“I would rather play somebody else, just because you’d like to see your brother win, not enough to throw in the towel though,” Coach Mitchell Buck said.
