What’s Hangin’ in the Halls?

Photography Students Share their Talents around MHS

The walls of MHS are full of bulletins and ads, as well as photos of random students. Photo 3’s class has lots of pictures so, they are hanging them in the hallways, not just the classroom.

“I don’t have a real place to hang [them], and I’m running out of room in here, so I was hanging [them] in the hall so you guys could see [them]. I’m pretty proud of them,” the new photography teacher, Mrs. Walters, said.

Each student gets their best photo(s) hung up in the hallway for the student body to see. This is a great way to get more people to notice the photography program at MHS, and it also puts pressure on the Photo 3 students to do their best with each assignment.

“It’s nice. It’s definitely good recognition. I know last year, whenever we had our big prints up, people would walk by some of my images and they would be like ‘Wow, how’d they do that?’ It’s like, holy cow. Somebody’s interested in my work, so it’s definitely a good inspiration and encouragement to keep working hard so people will recognize you for your efforts,” Senior Emma Clawson said.

These pictures, once noticed, make quite an impression. Mrs. Walters asks the students to do things that she admits are difficult, but they succeed anyway.

“It’s really exciting to see our work done and to see it printed off. It looks good on the computers, but once it gets printed off that’s final. That’s the most nerve racking part is what if it doesn’t turn out the way you want it to when it’s printed? That’s the only worry, but once it’s done and it looks good then it’s really fun,” Senior Anna Chapman said.
