MHS athletes enjoy doing other things besides their sports. With a wide variety of extracurricular activities, these athletes like to juggle, dirt bike, run for positions, and compete in rodeos. This is going behind the scenes of the athletes for this season.
Devan Smith is a junior on the MHS wrestling team. When he is not busy with wrestling, he also enjoys taking some time out of his day to go dirt biking. There are many different places he likes to go to.
“We go to the sand dunes usually or when we go camping we always take them. We ride around and go on trails.” Smith said.
Senior Lyric Evan,s a dancer for Bobcadettes, has other extracurricular activities other than being a Bobcadette. Being a Senator in the MHS Student Council for 2 years has been something she loves to do. All the positions for the Senior class work together to plan and make the school better.
“My favorite part about being the Senator for the Senior Class is planning the dances. This year we get to plan prom, and it already has a theme but I’m not allowed to say anything about it.” Evan said.
Many people stereotype cheerleaders as being too girly. For Sophomore, Taylor Martin, cheer is a big part of her life, but beyond the life of cheer she has participated in Horse shows at the Madison county fair rodeo.
“I do rodeos, and I compete in pole bending and barrel racing…I did horse 4H too, and with that one you go to the county fair and you compete there and if you place high enough you’ll go to state and I took second place in halter.” Martin said.
6-foot-8-inch senior, Konner Jackson, is known for his skills on the basketball court. While he’s a member of the MHS Varsity Baskeetball Team on the court, he is also an amatuer juggler and a part-time magician.
“If juggling was a high school sport, I would definitely pursue it,” Jackson said.
He has a hidden talent of being a magician. He likes to perform for family and friends in his free time. His most famous magic trick at his 2008 family reunion was when he made a fake bunny disappear.
“It still hasn’t been found to this day.” Jackson bragged.
