Walmart: Convenience, Controversy, and Community

Everyone shops at Walmart in Rexburg.
Walmart, America’s superstore, what don’t they have? Walmart is a well known store chain that reaches all across the country. This store is everyone’s go to for pretty much anything you can think of. The product range is pretty much everything like new iPhones, pencils, food, strollers, even auto parts. They offer everything and the price is almost unmatched but that comes with a downside as well–it means it’s always busy and lines almost out the door.
Walmart is all about being convenient; it has everything you need all in one place only one trip. The hard thing about it is that it can be really tricky to find what you’re looking for. Sometimes you can get lost in the many aisles and turns and all the different places or labels one thing could be under.
I asked a friend about the last time they were at Walmart and they said, “I wandered around the store for almost 10 minutes just looking for a pack of mechanical pencils, that’s it. Eventually I just asked a worker who gave me a look before giving me directions to the hidden away school supplies aisles all the way in the back of the store. After all that I had to wait like 10 more minutes just to get through the checkout line and get out of the store.”
So as nice as it is, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows at this so-called superstore.
To close Walmart is a great for having everything you need in one place but like everything else in the world there’s flaws and inconveniences you have to deal with because at the end of the day it’s still a shopping trip.
