With the track season almost underway, athletes are excited to compete. Whether you’re a runner, thrower, or jumper, there is a lot to look forward to this season.
The upcoming season is going to be one full of competition, which means some of our Madison athletes have already been starting their preseason training.
A junior, Kayden Wadsworth, after being asked what he’s doing to prepare for the upcoming season said, “I’m doing a lot of preseason training in the fieldhouse, and I’m going to indoor meets.”
This training will be vital to ourteam, especially because most of the athletes that made it to state last year were seniors and won’t be competing this year.
When asked what events he was looking forward to competing in, Kayden Wadsworth said, “All of the sprint events but my favorite is the 400m, and I’m also looking forward to running relays.”
With Wadsworth’s effort that he’s been putting in during preseason training, he is going to be a vital team member for Madison’s relay teams and is on track to have a successful year.
After asking Junior athlete Moise Joos what his goals were for this season he replied with, “My goals for this season are to beat Kayden Wadsworth and Kache Abegglen and run a 100m in under 12 seconds.”
When asking Kayden Wadsworth the same question he said, “I want to make it to state.” It will be exciting to see if these goals are accomplished this year and will be exciting to see how we compare this season to last season. The season starts at the end of February.
