Foreign Christmas

Foreign exchange student from Germany, Junior, Felix Scheider talks about his home family traditions in Germany. Despite being far from his home near the Alps, Schneider says he feels comfortable and welcomed.

“I love the people, like, my host family is making everything a lot easier, and I like my friends here and everything,” Schneider said. 

Schneider explained that Christmas in Germany is celebrated on December 24, when families gather in the evening, attend church, exchange presents, and eat a special dinner.exchange presents, and eat a special dinner.

“ After church, we get our presents under the tree and then unwrap and have a nice dinner,” Scheider said. 

He said for dinner their main traditional dish in Germany is roast beef, and the dish he likes that they make here in Rexburg is potatoes and cheese and ham and everything. 

“We always have, for example, roast beef with some other stuff. It’s more about the roast beef and the meat, of course,” Scheider said.
