Just doing it all: Benjamin Hintze edition

Junior Benjamin Hintze keeps himself busy with a full schedule of extracurriculars, college classes, and personal hobbies — all while keeping a positive attitude and strong sense of balance.

“I participate in several school-organized extracurriculars: student council, choir, tennis, and NHS,” Hintze said. “My favorite extracurricular is tennis because of the ability I have to improve, and I enjoy playing. I’m athletic, and so I enjoy being able to use that athletic ability.”

When he’s not serving aces on the court, Hintze can often be found making music or spending time with friends. He enjoys playing piano, riding his bike, shooting hoops, and hanging out with people who make him laugh.

His achievements reflect his dedication both inside and outside the classroom. “My major achievements have been passing my first college class, doing well in my academics, piano achievements, and making good friends,” he said.

Balancing all of these activities takes discipline — something Hintze has learned through experience. “Time management is a hard thing to be able to control because it just involves a lot of self-awareness and being able to make the hard decisions,” he explained. “Sometimes that means saying no to stuff that could be fun, but knowing you have other stuff to do first.”

Alongside his extracurriculars, Hintze takes his academics seriously. He’s currently enrolled in AP Biology, College Spanish, and AP U.S. History — three college-level classes that challenge him daily. “My favorite class outside of seminary is either College Spanish or choir,” he said. “And I really should be taking more, but I don’t have room.”

When asked who motivates him the most, Hintze doesn’t hesitate. “Somebody that inspires me is my parents because they’re always telling me to give it everything I have and to try my hardest,” he said.

If he had to sum himself up in one word, Hintze would choose “kind.” “That’s the hope,” he added with a smile.
