K-Pop Demon Hunters

Released August 23rd Kpop Demon Hunters has been sweeping the nation, including our high school, becoming one of the most popular movies in the world.
“I think the art style is cool, the music is really catchy, and then I also just kind of think it’s fun,” Senior Britton Isle said.
She has watched the movie several times and her favorite song is soda pop and her favorite character is Rumi.
“I think she’s pretty neat ’cause she shows the strong, leadership aspects, but then she also has that deep, dark secret that’s holding her back,” Isle said.
Becoming familiar with this movie has opened her eyes to the lesson this movie teaches.
“It teaches you to love yourself and accept yourself with your flaws,” Isle said.
But not everyone shares this opinion on the value of this moral. Senior Joshua Williams shares his view of the movie.
“The message they’re trying to get people to get out of it is to not hide who you are, even if you think it’s not great. is to be yourself, but also, that’s not, I mean, it can be a good message, but it’s not always a good message,” Williams said.
His view is that a person should still make themself the best they can be, being honest, and genuine is good, but they shouldn’t be a worse version of themself when they have the potential for more.
“Just take it with a grain of salt, with a little nuance, it’s not gonna be all that people are saying it is, but there is plenty of stuff that’s of value in there,” Williams said.
Despite his dislike for some of what the movie portrays he still enjoyed the music and some of the characters, his favorites being Jinu and the song Idol.
“It’s just so well written, from the Gregorian chant style at the beginning to the vocal ranges expressed throughout the entire thing. It’s got a tight beat, it just gets stuck in your head. That’s kind of what it’s about, everything’s just perfect,” Williams said.
