Knives at school

Bringing a knife to school(even a small one)might seem harmless to some students, but it’s a serious violation of school policy, and even the law.
“It’s a very simple policy” Officer Boivie, the school’s resource officer, said, “You are not allowed to have any knife on you of any size, anywhere on campus.”
Many students mistakenly believe that knives under three inches are allowed, but that’s a myth. The confusion often comes from general state laws about blade length, which don’t apply in school settings.
“That’s the state concealed carry law, but schools can restrict it and make it tougher than the state law,” Boivie said.
Getting caught with a knife at school can lead to serious consequences, including suspension, expulsion, and even legal charges.
“It will get taken the first time, given to the principal, they have to get it after school. If it happens a second time they have to come meet with their parents at the school before they are allowed back at school, and if it happens a third time they usually suspend them to try to make them realize that we are serious about it.” Bovie said.
