There are some shredded students at MHS. Senior Braxton Mouser shared his favorite workouts, the best music to listen to while lifting, and some tips on how to get shredded. 

“I got into the gym because I’m really smallI was tired of being just some small little guy. I wanna be the guy people look at,” Braxton Mouser said. 

Mouser isn’t the only one. A lot of people are hitting the gym for the same reason, to feel better and look stronger. Finding the right playlist is key to achieving those goals. 

“I like listening to sad music because it gets me in my feels, and then I pretend like I’m heartbroken, like I don’t have a loving girlfriend. “Then it makes me think she never would’ve left me if I hit this PR, and then I text her between sets,” Mouser said. 

Mouser uses his girlfriend as motivation to hit PR’s, but what is good motivation on days that you don’t want to go to the gym? 

“I worry that the gym employees know that I skipped. It kind of haunts me,” Mouser said. 

Even with all that motivation, it’s not just about showing up, it’s about putting in the work. For Mouser, nothing beats a solid arm day.

“My favorite workout is probably gonna be arms. I really like when my forearms get all pumped out,” Mouser said. 

A crazy arm pump can be super motivating for people just joining the gym. But they might not know how to start working out or how to do it safely.

“I recommend taking an online class about physical training, or take a buddy who knows what they’re doing,” Mouser said.
